The main role in tuning a scooter variomatic is weight. Rule of thumb: the lighter your roll sets, the more rpm’s are needed to push the rolls outwards through centrifugal motion to set gear change in motion. Heavier rolls need lower rpm’s to start this process.
That means if your scooter has lighter rolls it will need higher rpm’s to start moving. Heavier rolls allow you to start moving at lower rpm’s.

Each pilot will have to find out which level of rpm’s is right for them. A range of factors deal in this decision: degree of tuning, driver’s weight, which weight (of rolls) are optimal, etc. Knowing the glut of inadequate material on the market, we can only recommend vario rolls from wned firms
